Our Story–Why I Created This Guide
My husband and I had both been financially leveled by divorces and recessions. After looking at exorbitant home prices, we decided living in a travel trailer on our own property while building our home, paying cash as we went, would be the best strategy for us. So my husband, teenage son and I now live off-grid in a Keystone Hideout 33' travel trailer in cold-weather Idaho. It’s been over 1 ½ years (we’re building our home ourselves) and it’s been a surprisingly comfortable, affordable adventure.
During this time two of our adult children started having issues affording rent (despite working full time) and having trouble with roommates.
We talked through all the options with one daughter and helped set her up to live in a Montana Trailer. She’s since been able to get out of debt and start college with the extra funds she’s saving.
And we’re now talking with our second daughter about doing the same, so she can have her own place and get her nursing degree.
Many people are finding it harder than ever to afford rent or save for a home.
- Many adult children are moving back in with parents or relying on roommates just to get by.
- Families who once were able to own a home are now struggling with basic living expenses.
We’ve Found a Possible Solution To The Struggle: My husband and I have discovered living full-time in a travel trailer has made it financially possible to afford to build a home.
That’s Why I Created This Guide: I built this guide to help you decide if living in a parked RV/trailer is right for you. And how to do it in a way that helps you stop living paycheck-to-paycheck, pay off debt, and save for a home.
